Tips: Q&A
1.Why does the same sample give different readings on two pH meters?
PH measurement errors are due to pH electrode, pH meter host, and standard buffer.Due to two pH meter calibration conditions are not the same (e.g., correction made at different times), resulting in slightly different measurements, so use the same buffer at the same time.
Two pH meters were used for calibration, and then the pH value of the sample was determined simultaneously.
2.What is a composite electrode?
An electrode that combines a pH glass electrode with a reference electrode is called a pH composite electrode. The main advantage of the composite electrode is the combination of two
For one, easy to use. The structure of pH composite electrode mainly consists of electrode bulb, support rod, reference electrode, reference solution, shell, and liquid
Junction, electrode cap, electrode wire, joint, etc.
3. How Does a Differential pH Sensor Work?
Differential pH sensors and ORP sensors employ a field-proven method that uses three electrodes instead of the two used in conventional pH sensors. The key difference is in the reference cell design. While a combination pH electrode has an Ag/AgCl reference wire in KCl solution, a differential pH sensor reference is a measuring pH electrode in a known pH 7.0 buffered cell solution. This reference cell (E2 in the figure on the left) makes electrical contact with the process via a double junction salt bridge. The other measuring pH electrode (E1) is in direct contact with the process. The process and reference electrodes measure the pH differentially with respect to a third metal ground electrode (E3).
