Product Description:

The KS3ARG03D series solid state angular rate sensors, commonly known as gyros, are designed to precisely measure angular rates. Integrating advanced micromechanoelectronic systems (MEMS) technology, these sensors utilize chips developed using the bipolar metal oxide semiconductor (BIMOS) technology production process complemented by a sophisticated spherical grid arrangement for current carrier welding. This innovative approach ensures both a robust packaging and high reliability of the sensors.

In addition, these sensors boast a Self-Test feature that enables Built-In Testing (BIT) capabilities, allowing users to perform in-device diagnostics to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

Operating Principle

The operating mechanism of the KS3ARG03D series angular rate sensors is rooted in the resonator gyro concept. These sensors are equipped with two polysilicon sensitive structures. Each structure encompasses a high-frequency vibrating frame that is electrostatically active, causing it to resonate. These frames serve as the critical elements necessary to gauge velocity.

Located at the frame's outer ends, a capacitive-sensitive structure is poised to respond to the Coriolis forces that arise when the angular rate is present. This interaction results in the generation of an electrical signal. It is then sent through an amplification and modulation process, ultimately producing an electrical signal that is directly proportional to the measured angular rate.
